Be2Camp

Exploring Web 2.0 in the built environment

We are starting more detailed preparation for the Liverpool event on Friday 15 May. We have some initial ideas about topics, but - as with Be2camp 2008 - the success of the day will depend upon people volunteering to speak or otherwise contribute on topics of their choice relevant to the overall theme of Web 2.0 and the built environment. What would you like to talk about? What or who would you like to hear?

Paul, not sure that I'm qualified to speak (a bit old school) but I would be interested in any Geo focused content. Any thoughts, plans on that angle? Regards.

Paul, I'm happy to discuss Earth Exchange (which is listed on the agenda as a 'TBC') and do an online demo/presentation (my 3G card permitting) and possibly explore other spatial data for construction-related map mashups - although I may be not that qualitified from an IT background to lead discussions (so no difficult questions please - just ideas)

Hi Paul,
I've got something for discussion that's on my mind, but given the distance and time-zone barriers I don't think I could present it in a traditional sense.
The topic is the potential benefits and barriers to the use of micro-blogging by distributed architectural design teams.
I've recently written quite a bit about it here:
http://www.stress-free.co.nz/using_microblogging_to_record_architec...

The gist of the post is that the micro-blogging concept holds a lot of promise, but consumer tools such as Twitter don't meet the industry's requirements.

Any ideas how a session like this could be run smoothly if I were to join in via some Internet VOIP/conferencing system?

David, we managed to get a presentation delivered by an Australian contributor at our event last October, using a combination of Skype and SlideShare (or sharing Google Apps). I would be happy to give this a go if we can sort out a mutually convenient time between NZ and the UK. Let me know what suits you.

Regards
Paul

Okay I'll sort out a couple of slides and put them onto Slideshare.
A time before 2pm GMT works best for me (i.e 1am Sat NZT for me).

I'll post a link to the Slideshare content as a reply to this thread.
My Skype handle is paintbuoy.

Cheers,

David
