About Me
Until May 2009, I worked for BIW Technologies, one of the UK's leading providers of SaaS-based construction collaboration technologies - AKA 'project extranets' (before that, I ran my own PR and marketing business following 11 years with the Halcrow group and Tarmac Professional Services). I wrote the UK's first guide to these technologies, published in 2005, and have been involved in various IT related initiatives by, among others, the Network of Construction Collaboration Technology Providers and Constructing Excellence.

I also write about AEC technologies, particularly in Software-as-a-Service, on my blog at www.extranetevolution.com. At BIW, I set up the company's intranet and wiki, started a blog and introduced RSS feeds, Twitter and YouTube into our communications. More recently, I started a new PR/marketing/Web2.0/AEC blog.

Martin Brown spoke to me about running what we now as be2camp in early 2008 and as part of the team of 'unorganisers' we have, I hope, risen to the challenge, learning much as we go along.

The Be2camp Web 2.0 Showcase

At Be2camp@WorkingBuildings in London last month it was suggested that we use the Be2camp website to showcase good examples of Web 2.0 technologies being deployed to support built environment projects. We have therefore re-jigged the home page a bit to give prominence to a new feature: the Be2camp Web 2.0 Showcase. Our first featured case study is YouCanPlan and Vision Lozells.

Assuming we get a steady flow of good suggestions for candidates, this feature will be updated approximately we… Continue

RIBAforum09 revisited

One of the features of Be2camp-style event delivery is the capture of user-generated content associated with each event, and yesterday's RIBAforum09 is no exception. Freed from the hassles of managing streaming video or trying to bypass patchy wifi (that was Clare Sinclair's challenge, which she rose to magnif… Continue

Look in on the RIBA Stakeholders Forum 2009

The Royal Institute of British Architects is holding its annual Stakeholders Forum on the afternoon of Tuesday 27 October and the theme is Web 2.0.

Accordingly, organiser Clare Sinclair is keen to demonstrate how what used to be a conventional half-day conference can be turned into a more interactive event, and is inviting people to participate before during and after the event via social media.… Continue

Hi Paul,

How are you? It is really great to see such nice words on my wall. Many thanks for your kind greetings. That is very nice of you!

Sorry for the late reply, has been quite busy meeting several deadlines at this moment. Just curious, who are the main populations of Be2Camp, are they all architects, Construction Consultants, IT experts, Academics of architectual or others? Is it only a networking online group for AEC professionals to know each other, or do we hold regular online forum to discuss various opportunities?

Sorry to ask so many questions, hope you don't mind.^_^

Your early reply and warmhearted help will be highly appreciated.

All the best and take care,

Christina Yan Zhang^_^

Hi Paul I think that would be a splendid idea. Shall we discuss by phone? Or even in a coffee bar somewhere? 07866 673365 any time today would suit. Cheers N

Hi Paul, I would love to attend as it certainly looks interesting, but don't think I can justify the trip down from Glasgow. I've forwared to my colleague Sarah Graham, who's based in London in the hope that she can attend instead. Any plans to make online access available?
